| Our Nursery Manager, Paul, recently confessed a secret. He just told everyone that last fall, he started to carefully prune each fruit tree we had out in our nursery. He learned this technique from his days as a master gardener in Massachusetts.
"That's why they're so big and bushy, and why they're producing so much fruit at such a young age," he said with a smile on his face.
Paul was right... these trees are huge! All the fruit trees in our nursery had more branches than usual, which means that they're able to produce more fruit than a normal fruit tree.
"I even give them a quick snip before we send them out... just to make sure that it's perfect. This is also because some of them are so big, they wouldn't fit in the box!"
Growing your own fruit has quickly become the safer, healthier alternative to getting it at your local supermarket.
According to a 2006 USDA study, 70% of commercially grown fruit had at least 1 pesticide still on it when it reached the supermarket... and 40% had 2 pesticides or more. These chemicals have been known to cause Parkinson's disease, respiratory problems, and even cancer.
Growing your own food with organically grown fruit trees eliminates the need to spray chemicals and pesticides... giving you sweeter tasting, healthier and safer fruit. Try these safe alternatives for delicious, organically-grown fruit.
