Follow these easy steps to plant your Red Flowering Dogwood Trees |

Step 1 - Dig the Hole
Dogwood trees like plenty of well drained but moist soil and full to partial sun. So keep this in mind when choosing the planting site for your Red Flowering Dogwood tree. Dig a hole about twice the diameter of the root system and no deeper than the root ball. Use your shovel or other garden tool to scrape the soil on the walls of the planting hole so the roots can easily penetrate the soil as they grow. |

Step 2 - Place the Tree
Set your Red Flowering Dogwood tree in the planting hole and spread out the roots. The top of the root ball should be about an inch above the neighboring soil. If there is a preferred side to your tree, now is the time to turn it so you can see it. Then make sure the tree is straight up and down in the hole. Use a level for accuracy. |

Step 3 – Backfill the Hole Apply water as you backfill the hole with soil to remove any air pockets. After transplanting your Red Flowering Dogwood tree, water it again well. To keep the soil moist, it is recommended that you mulch around the tree. Use enough mulch to reach a depth of 2"-3" but keep a small circle around the tree trunk that is not covered with mulch. Using organic mulches like wood chips or pine needles improves soil quality and moisture retention. |
