Planting Your Chinese Privet hedge is simple!

Step 1 - Dig Your Hole
Chinese Privets can be planted anywhere in full to partial sun and in a wide range of soil types. Dig each hole approximately twice the diameter of the root system and slightly shallower than the root ball. It is also a good idea to scrape the sides of the hole with your shovel or a pitch fork so the roots can spread out more easily. For a privacy screen, plant the trees from two to four feet apart and use stakes with twine wrapped around them to create an outline. Then just dig your holes where the stakes are.
Step 2 - Place Your Tree
Adjust each Chinese Privet hedge shrub so the best side is where you can see it. Make sure it’s straight (try using a level for accuracy) and the roots are slightly loosened and spread out in the hole. The top of the root ball should be about an inch above the neighboring soil.
Step 3 – Backfill Your Hole
Fill the hole back in with soil in stages and add water as you go to remove air pockets. Be sure to finely chop up the soil and remove any debris. Water each Chinese Privet again after you’re finished back filling each hole. To help hold on to some of that moisture, it is recommended that you place mulch around the tree to a depth of 2"-3" and up to but not touching the trunk.
