Planting a Royal Empress Tree is Easy! |
Step 1 Dig a hole 2-3 feet deep and 3-4 feet wide. This will loosen up the surrounding soil and remove unwanted grass. Grass will compete with your Empress Tree for the surrounding soil’s nutrients. Also, when it rains, the grass won't steal water away from your tree. The Royal Empress Tree is a very forgiving tree. Even if you don't plant it perfectly, you can still see amazing growth. It is adaptable to many types of soils. |

Step 2 Place your tree in the hole and spread out the roots. Dump in planty of dirt so that there are no air pockets. If the roots of your Empress Tree are somehow in a pocket of air, they can dry out and kill your tree. That is why you should gently pat down all your dirt to mack sure it is compact. Watering your tree immediately after planting will help remove air pockets as well. |

Step 3 Pinch or prune away any small leaves, or "suckers", that may be growing between the stem of your tree and its branches. |
