These easy instructions will get your Apple Tree off to a great start!

Step 1 - Dig the Hole
The best spot for planting a apple tree is an area with well-drained soil and plenty of sun. Dig a hole approximately twice the diameter of the root system and about a foot deeper. Then loosen the soil on the walls of the planting hole so the roots can easily penetrate the soil.
Step 2 - Place the Tree
Set the tree in the planting hole. The root ball should be about an inch above the surrounding soil. Next, spread out the roots in the hole. Now make sure the tree is straight up and down. If there is a preferred side to your apple tree, turn it where you can see it.
Step 3 – Backfill the Hole
As you fill the hole back in with soil, apply water to remove air pockets. Water well again after the transplant is complete. To help retain some of that moisture, it is recommended that you place mulch around the tree to a depth of 2"-3" up to but not touching the trunk.
