Flowering Trees

We strongly suggest that your flowering tree be unpacked immediately when it is received. Whenever possible, the planting of your tree should take place right away.

If extreme weather, such as extreme heat or severe drought, is currently occurring in your area, the tree should be potted and kept in the shade until it become possible to plant.

In an ideal situation, the tree should be planted at least six weeks before the first frost, though a tree that is properly cared for can be planted at any time of year and flourish.

Once you have selected and prepared a location for your tree, dig a planting hole that will allow plenty of room for the root system to grow. Generally, this hole will be twice the height and width of the root ball. Spread the roots out and surround with dirt so as to avoid air pockets.

Use dirt of soil to backfill the hole. Take care that the roots are well covered, as the soil will condense slightly when your tree is watered. Pack soil firmly at base of tree.

Be sure to water your tree properly for your location and weather conditions.

Grass and/or weeks should not be permitted to grow within three feet of your tree, especially during the first growing season. You can pull these weeds, and then spread mulch around your tree.

It is essential that your flowering tree receive special care and attention during the first growing season. Follow all instructions thoroughly.
