A Small Tree that will Dwarf all others

For eye-catching, visual beauty, look no further than the Dwarf Red Buckeye. Small enough to plant as a shrub, or large enough to train into a compact tree, this colorful stunner can grow to heights of 20 feet in the proper conditions or can be shaped into an ornamental shrub that will brighten any location. Requiring almost zero maintenance, the Buckeye won't have you toiling in your garden, only out for a look to enjoy its beauty.

No matter what design you favor for your garden or landscape, you'll enjoy the Buckeye's trademark 5-part green leaves that flourish throughout the summer. Preceding them in the spring are the scarlet panicles of blossoms that will attract a plethora of wildlife including hummingbirds and butterflies. A versatile favorite, the Red Buckeye will add warmth and charm whether you plant it beside your patio or along the edge of your garden.

Planting & Care

It's Easy to Plant & Care for Your Red Dwarf Buckeye Tree

Step 1: Dig Your Hole

Select a site with full to partial sun and moist or well drained soil for your Red Dwarf Buckeye Tree.

First, dig each hole so that it is just shallower than the root ball and at least twice the width.

Then loosen the soil in the planting hole so the roots can easily break through.

Use your shovel or try dragging the points of a pitch fork along the sides and bottom of the hole.

Planting & Care

Step 2: Place Your Plant

Next, separate the roots of your Red Dwarf Buckeye Tree gently with your fingers and position them downward in the hole.

The top of the root flare, where the roots end and the trunk begins, should be about an inch above the surrounding soil.

Then make sure the plant is exactly vertical in the hole.

To make it just right, use a level.

Step 3: Backfill Your Hole

As you backfill the hole, apply water to remove air pockets.

Remove debris like stones and grass and completely break up any dirt clumps.

Water your Red Dwarf Buckeye Tree again after the transplant is complete.

Choose this small bush/tree as liked size, has flowers for hummingbirds and bees, and I was born in Ohio - so "Buckeye" is very appropriate.
