Arizona Cypress Trees aka Drought Tolerant Evergreen
Don't be fooled by the name. The Arizona Cypress is native to the Southwest, but it thrives in all the southern states. Why? Because this is a tough tree that adapts incredibly well. East or West - it can tolerate a variety of soils, weather extremes, and can go a long time without water. As more communities enforce water restrictions, the Arizona Cypress has become increasingly popular. You can Save Water and still have richly colored, thick evergreens.
As summer temperatures continue to increase and rain becomes more intermittent, the Arizona Cypress is a low maintenance, environmentally friendly alternative. Freak heat waves that can dry out other evergreens don't bother this one. You often see these used as property borders and privacy screens. Developers love them because they don't have to run watering systems to keep them alive. You can also use these as accent trees. They keep their gleaming blue-green foliage year round. The unique steeple shape of the Arizona Cypress makes it a great privacy tree. Plant every 6 feet and watch your trees form a dense screen. Arizona Cypress matures quickly in Growing Zones 7-9.
